A quick guide to incidental support training. A guide on what to say and how to maintain appropriate boundaries (ON DEMAND)

Presentation Overview
This session is designed to help non-support workers who come into contact with members of the community who are distressed and wanting to share their story. The focus of the session is around setting and maintaining appropriate boundaries, building awareness of what’s appropriate in your work role, and holding space for a distressed individual without trying to fix their problem or provide counselling-type support.

We will look at the strong emotions which may arise at a fundraising event and how to appropriately respond to these emotions in a supportive, yet contained manner.

We will go through four key skills which will allow a distressed person to feel heard and cared for without opening up a deeper, more intense conversation.
